Mehmet Emre Taşgın received his B.S. degree in Physics from Bilkent University, in 2003. He did his PhD under the supervision of Assoc. Prof. Mehmet Özgür Oktel, also in the Physics Deparment of Bilkent University. He received his PhD degree in 2009. His dissertation thesis concerns the light propagation and quantum information on coherent media and band gaps in photonic crystals of such media.

He performed a one year post-doc with Assoc. Prof. Özgür E. Müstecaplıoğlu at Koç University, in 2010. He worked in the DPT (State Planning Organization) Project for the establishment of a Quantum Cryptology Center in Turkey. He did another one year post-doc with Pierre Meystre in the College of Optics, at University of Arizona, in 2011. He studied on the quantum precision measurements.  Between 2012 and the beginning of 2014, he worked as an Asst. Prof. in the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Kırklareli University. Now, he continues his research in the Institute of Nuclear Sciences at Hacettepe University.
